Your child is first through the door at the schools' book fair. She spends hours deciding which books to buy and then stays up, night after night, pouring through each treasured page, even taking a flashlight to bed, to write in her journal or diary while under the covers.

While some children fall asleep dreaming of cheering crowds as they cross the goal line with a ball, others revel in words. They study words, they write words, and read -- breakfast, lunch and dinner! In fact, they'd rather have a book or a new blank notebook to fill than any ball or toy.
